Man Accused Of Starting Fire In Lake View Store: Report

Prosecutors said a Lake View Walgreens was one of three Chicago stores where a man tried to start fires, according to a report.

CHICAGO, IL — Cook County prosecutors said a man used a lighter to start a fire in a Walgreens in Lake View, according to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times. Prosecutors said he also set fires in a clothing store in Avondale and a Walmart in Hermosa, according to the report. Lavale Miller, 38, faces three felony counts of aggravated arson.

Prosecutors said Miller caused $1 million worth of damage to clothes in Discovery Clothing at 3348 W. Belmont Ave. on May 30, according to the report. Authorities said he also set fire to to clothing in the Walmart at 4650 W. North Ave. on June 11, the Sun-Times reported.

Then on June 19, prosecutors said Miller started a fire in the stationery section of the Walgreens at 1001 W. Belmont, according to the report.

Miller was previously convicted of starting a fire in a bathroom in Roosevelt University's downtown campus, prosecutors said.

Miller's next court appearance is set for Friday.
