Man Beaten By Group In Lake View: Police

Police said a 52-year-old victim was beaten by a group of three men on the North Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A man was beaten by a group of people in Lake View early Monday morning, police said. The 52-year-old man was trying to lock up his bike around 2:20 a.m., when three men attacked him, according to police. The attack happened in the 3200 block of North Broadway, police said.

The three men surrounded the victim and began to yell threats at him, police said. The group then began hitting the man and used his bike lock to strike him, according to police.

The victim ran to a nearby business and threw merchandise at his attackers, police said. One offender threw items back, authorities said.

The three men were taken into custody and two were released without charges. One man was charged with misdemeanor criminal damage to property.

Police did not release details about why two of the attackers weren't charged, or what led up to the attack.
