Man Stole Cellphones From Women In Lakeview, Logan Square
Police are searching for a suspect who targeted women who were alone.

CHICAGO, IL -- Police are searching for a man who stole cellphones from women in the Lakeview and Logan Square neighborhoods at least twice this month. The man targeted women who were alone and forcibly took their phones, police said. After both thefts, the man immediately jumped into a stolen van with at least two other people and it drove away, according to a police community alert.
The first theft happened Friday at around 2:40 p.m. in the 3500 block of North Ashland Avenue in Lakeview, the alert said.

The second happened around 3:30 p.m. the same day in the 1800 block of North Campbell Avenue in Logan Square, police said. (For more local news, subscribe to free email news alerts and a daily newsletter for your hometown Patch.)
The suspect was described as black with black hair and brown eyes, between the ages of 16 and 23 years old, between 5'7 and 5'8 tall, and weighing about 140 to 179 lbs. He wore baggy blue jeans and a gray hoodie.

The getaway van was described as a gold Honda Odyssey minivan with the Illinois license plate H855843. The van was reported stolen, police said.
