Ronnie 'Woo Woo' Wants Rahm Emanuel to Resign

Chicago mayor has lost the support of one of the city's most iconic sports fans.

Ronnie “Woo Woo” Wickers, one of the Chicago Cubs’ most beloved fans, has joined in on the call for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to resign.

Wickers, famous for wearing Cubs gear everywhere and “wooing” at home games since the 1950s, took the mic Thursday during a press conference held by ‘The Coalition for a New Chicago,’ a group attempting to gather support for a bill that would allow Chicago residents to vote on whether to recall Emanuel, according to the Sun-Times and other reports.

Right outside Emanuel’s office at City Hall, Wickers grabbed the mic and called for the mayor’s resignation.

“I think the mayor should go. He know what’s going on,” was Wicker’s exact phrase, Bill Cameron reported via Twitter.

Emanuel has been under pressure to resign over the last few weeks for how he has handled, or mishandled, the 2014 case of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times and killed by police officer Jason Van Dyke.

Wickers had been in attendance at a Rahm Emanuel election party earlier in 2015 when the incumbent mayor was forced into a runoff election with challenger Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, a runoff Emanuel would eventually win easily.
