Chicago: ​5 Fun Things to Do This Weekend, July 8-10, 2016

There's no shortage of events in Chicago this weekend. Here's a look at our five favorite.

Chicago, IL - Another summer weekend in Chicago. Another weekend with a whole lot of fun on tap. This weekend offers even more variety than usual. In addition to the well-known Taste of Chicago, the focus this weekend will be on teenagers, the Irish heritage and burgers.

Here’s a look at some fun options if you are spending the weekend in the city.

  • Taste of Chicago: Several new restaurants are at the Taste of Chicago this year, a five-day event that began on Wednesday and concludes Sunday in Grant Park. Food trucks will join five-day restaurants, pop-up restaurants, music and the Celebrity Chef du Jour will highlight one of the city’s most popular yearly events.
  • Irish American Heritage Festival: The city’s largest Irish festival not held in the month of March takes over the Irish American Heritage Center at 4826 N. Knox Ave. this weekend. Activities include Irish dancing, cultural activities, beer and food. It begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at Midnight Sunday.
  • Millennium Art Festival: Original artwork from more than 130 artists will be on display at Lake Street and Michigan Avenue in The Loop. It starts at 11 a.m. Friday and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday.
  • Roscoe Village Burger Fest: For a $10 donation at the gate, try some of the best burgers the city has to offer. The fest will take over the area around Clybourn Avenue and Diversey Parkway (new location due to construction) on Saturday and Sunday. Vendors include Hackney’s, Dive Bar and Butcher & The Burger.
  • Teens in the Park: Some of Chicago’s hottest new artists will entertain the crowd at Northerly Island on Saturday for the annual T.I.P. event.
