Someone Tried to Choke a Cop After Blackhawks Stanley Cup Win
A mugging, vandalism against police cars and other incidents popped up as soon as Wrigleyville filled with revelers Tuesday night.

More than two dozen people were arrested overnight during the Wrigleyville celebration that followed the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup win as some revelers turned irresponsibly thuggish. Many of those taken into custody face battery, battery to police and reckless conduct charges.
One man reportedly tried to choke a police officer who was taking another man into custody. There were numerous reports of bottles being thrown at cops. Six police vehicles were vandalized, with the windows of a police SUV smashed, and a few drunken or drugged people were hospitalized, too. Someone was seen blowing off fireworks from the trunk of a parked car.
One person was mugged at Sheffield and Oakdale, and a storefront window was smashed at Clark and Eddy at around 1:15 a.m. At about 2 a.m., a cab driver was pulled from his taxi and beaten in the street.

The streets around Wrigley Field filled with revelers minutes after the Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning to capture their third Stanley Cup in six years. The marquee at Wrigley lit up: “Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks 2015 Stanley Cup Champions.”
And the fans were lit, too, dancing in the streets, posing for photos and posting selfies on social media.
Police blocked Clark and Addison and would not let anyone else enter the area after the victory.
