Victims Pistol Whipped, Robbed in North Side Armed Robberies

At least ten people have been targeted in armed robberies in Lakeview, Bucktown and Wicker Park in past two weeks, cops say.

At least ten people have been targeted in armed robberies in the past two weeks in the Lakeview, Bucktown, Wicker Park and Humboldt Park.

Chicago police say two or three African-American males have robbed people at gunpoint and in several of the incidents pistol whipped their intended victims or firing a shot and missing. At least one person sustained a gunshot wound to the hand.

The crime wave started around Nov. 15. The four most recent robberies occurred on Nov. 27.

Witnesses have reported seeing the purported robbers fleeing on foot, or fleeing to a waiting car, described as a black Toyota Prius, a red Nissan Altima, or a blue car of unknown make, police said.

The robbers are in their early 20s, 5-foot-8-inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing between 165 to 225 pounds. Witnesses said the men were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and one or more wearing their hair in dreadlocks. All are armed with handguns.

  • 1200 W. Waveland Ave., Sunday, Nov. 15, at 12:30 A.M.
  • 2934 W. Belden, Monday, Nov. 23, at 3:55 P.M.
  • 3600 N. Clark St., Monday, Nov. 23, at 5 P.M.
  • 1533 N. Paulina Ave., Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 11:41 P.M.
  • 2458 W. Wabansia, Thursday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 A.M.
  • 2417 N. Oakley Ave., Thursday, Nov. 26 at 1:00 P.M.
  • 1221 N. Hoyne Ave., Friday, Nov. 27 at 12:05 A.M.
  • 1758 W. Cortland, Friday, Nov. 27, at 5:50 a.m.
  • 425 W. Surf, Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at 5:50 A.M.
  • 2850 N. Sheridan Road, Friday Nov. 27 at 6 A.M.

Chicago police advise residents to:

  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • Report suspicious persons or vehicles in this area.
  • Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any offenders or suspicious persons, including any vehicle description, license plate information and direction of flight, if it is known.

Anyone with information about the incidents or suspicious vehicles and/or persons around the times the robberies occurred is asked to call Area North Bureau of Detectives at 312-744-8263.
