Welcome to Chicago, Now 'Give It Up': Tourist Robbed at Gunpoint Near Buckingham Fountain

Robbers made off with his camera and other items.

While snapping photographs of Buckingham Fountain, one of Chicago’s most iconic lakefront sites and one of the largest fountains in the world, a New York tourist was robbed at gunpoint Friday.

“Give it up,” ordered a gunman and his companion, both clad in black jackets and gray hoodies, after a third man distracted the tourist with questions.

The 36-year-old New Yorker gave up his camera, worth $5,000, his wallet and his iPhone. The crime took place at about 8 p.m. Friday, according to Chicago Police, and the tourist walked back to his Michigan Avenue hotel and called police.
