Aggravated Battery, Fatal Traffic Crash, Various Thefts, Traffic Violations, a Warrant, DUIs Lead To Arrests
Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from March 18-25.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
Aggravated Battery
Atwaun R. Bell, 26, of 201 South Buesching Rd. #306, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, March 24, for aggravated battery and violating an order of protection at 201 S. Buesching Rd., police reports said. The victim reports that Bell struck his head with a bottle, according to police reports. Bell was charged with aggravated battery and violating an order of protection, police reports said. Bell was transported to Waukegan for a bond hearing. Bond was set at $50,000 and Bell was remanded to the Lake County Jail.

Fatal Traffic Crash
Officers responded to the area of S/B South Rand Road and Honey Lake Road for an injury accident at about 2:50 p.m., Thursday, March 24. Upon arrival officers observed a three vehicle traffic crash. One victim died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. The Lake County Coroner’s Office and the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) assisted officers with this investigation. The incident remains under investigation.

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
Jason A. Cohen, 19, of 1004 Suzanne Lane, Spring Grove, was arrested at 11:30 p.m., Thursday, March 24, for driving under the influence of drugs pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Ela Road, police reports said. Cohen was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage, according to police reports. Cohen was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Monday, April 25, court date in Waukegan.
Pallets Taken
Someone pallets from behind a building in the 300 block of Oakwood Road, it was reported to police at 8:29 a.m., Wednesday, March 23. The estimated loss is unknown. The matter is pending further investigation.
Cell Phone Stolen
Someone stole a woman’s cellular phone while she was shopping in the 700 block of Route 22, she reported to police at 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 23. The estimated loss is valued at $400. The matter is pending further investigation.
Burglary To Motor Vehicle
Someone took $100 worth of items from a woman’s vehicle that was parked in the 600 block of Pheasant Ridge Drive, she reported to police at 6:28 p.m., Wednesday, March 23. The matter is pending further investigation.
Laptop Computer Taken From Residence
Someone stole a laptop computer from a man’s residence in the 100 block of Johnathan Road, he reported to police at 10:21 p.m., Wednesday, March 23. The estimated loss is valued at $800. The matter is pending further investigation.
Harboring A Runaway
Michael L. Jordan, 43, of 201 S. Buesching Road #109, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 5:56 p.m, Tuesday, March 22, on a warrant for harboring a runaway out of Lake County, police reports said. Jordan’s bond was $100,000 and he was held at the Lake Zurich Police Department to await a bond hearing.
Purse Taken From Vehicle
Someone took a purse and the items in it valued at $500 from a woman’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 700 block of Apache Court, she reported to police at 9:50 a.m., Tuesday, March 22. The matter is pending further investigation.
Temporary License Plate Taken
Someone took the temporary registration plate off a woman’s vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block of South Buesching Road, she reported to police at 10 a.m., Monday, March 21. This matter is under investigation.
Aggravated Battery
Jasmine Cobb, 23, of 201 South Buesching Road # 128, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 10:03 p.m., Monday, March 21, for aggravated battery and domestic battery at 201 S. Buesching Road, police reports said. Police responded to 201 South Buesching Road for a male subject who reported he cut himself with a knife, according to police reports. Officers later determined that the victim was cut by Cobb during an altercation, police reports said. Jasmine was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery, according to police reports. Jasmine was held in police custody to await a bond hearing later in the day.
Tire Valves Cut
Someone cut the valve stems on all four tires of a man’s vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of South Old Rand Road, he reported to police at 9:05 a.m., Sunday, March 20. Cost of the damage was estimated to be at least $80. The matter is under investigation.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Andriy V. Beketov, 32, of 436 Doe Lane, Lakemoor, was arrested at 12:22 a.m., Sunday, March 20, for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Ela Road, police reports said. Beketov was stopped for failure to signal, failed field sobriety testing and was charged with failure to signal, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of more than 0.08, according to police reports. Beketov was issued a Monday, April 25, court date in Waukegan and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.
Driving With A Suspended License
Lesly J. Correa-Goenaga, 29, of 3837 W. North Ave. #3, Chicago, was arrested at 2:29 a.m., Sunday, March 20, for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at June Terrace, police reports said. Roldan was stopped and charged for improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Roldan was issued a Friday, April 15, courte date in Mundele and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.
Improper Lane Usage
Jose A. Roldan, 20, of 354 Meadow Lane, Vernon Hills, was arrested at 3:23 a.m., Sunday, March 20, for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at Cuba Road, police reports said. Roldan was stopped and charged for improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Roldan was issued a Wednesday, May 4, court date in Mundele and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.
Failure To Wear A Safety Belt
Jorge Herrera-Salas, 29, of 209 Sandydell, Mundelein, was arrested at 11:28 a.m., Friday, March 18, for driving while driver’s license is suspended on S. Old Rand Road at Route 12, police reports said. Herrera-Salas was stopped and charged for failure to wear a safety belt, failure to properly secure a child under age 8 in a motor vehicle and driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Herrera-Salas was issued a Wednesday, May 4, court date in Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
Mailbox Damaged
Someone damaged a man’s mailbox in the 700 block of Old Mill Grove Road, he reported to police at 10:58 a.m., Friday, March 18. The estimated cost of the damage is $400. The matter is pending further investigation.
Failure To Signal
James R. Hale, 57, of 1001 Rohlwing Rd., Elk Grove Village, was arrested at 9:11 p.m., Friday, March 18, for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Old Rand Road at Route 12, police reports said. Hale was stopped and charged for failure to signal when required and driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Hale was issued a Wednesday, May 5, court date and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
Driving With A Suspended License
Eduardo Varela, 25, of 203 Marlene Court, Wauconda, was arrested at 11:13 a.m., Friday, March 18, for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at Rugby Road, police reports said. A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed a suspended driver’s license and Varela was charged with driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Varela was issued a Wednesday, May 4, court date in Mundelein court and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
