Better Sleep for Adults, Safer Sleep for Infants

Eli Lazar, graduate of Palatine High School, is an aerospace engineer and he completed his PhD at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign working on the development of the upcoming supersonic business jet. While most people in his area only want to develop high-tech gadgets for guys, he has taken a different route.

In early 2014 the Huffington Post and NY Timescovered a medical study regarding the unsafe volume levels of infant sound machines. Not a single manufacturer has addressed this issue, so he applied his engineering background to do so. In brief, the device has the capability to pair with a phone to take a sound decibel reading at a crib or bed and allows a user to adjust the volume to a safe level. In addition, since studies expressed caution on whether listening to electronic white noise can be detrimental to auditory development in infants, he created his device with areal fan blade, so it produces sound that naturally varies.

Eli launched his campaign on Kickstarter.com Tuesday, September 1, 2015 and has been driving about 1k/hour. Not only is the product safe for infants, but it can be a great sleeping aid alternative for those of us who struggle to get enough sleep at night. Designed with airflow simulations run on supercomputers, SNOOZ uses a proprietary fan to generate live, natural white noise that is adjustable and doesn’t disturb the surrounding air.

No looping tracks or low-quality speakers. Just the soothing sound of moving air.
