Anyone who has stood in line for the Walnut Room Christmas Tree can attest to the undying devotion Chicagoans feel for Marshall Field & Compant. Marshall Field’s, once the “grande dame” of American full-service department stores, had much to do with shaping the history of Chicago. Author Gayle Soucek will share the story of the founding of this iconic company, revealing the true story behind Chicago’s own “Mr. Selfridge.”

Local historian and lifelong resident Neville Carr will reminisce about life “back in the day” in Wauconda – the little town that city folk visited when they were trying to get away from it all. Please join us and share your family stories of growing up in and around Wauconda. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
