Closing Date Set for Dominick's Stores

The countdown is on for the Lake Zurich Dominick's.

All unsold stores will close “on or about” Dec. 28, employees were told in a memo published by Crain’s Chicago Business.

“The closures are expected to be permanent,” according to the memo, which says the closing date will also be Dominick’s employees’ last day on the job.

Safeway, the chain’s parent company, announced earlier this month plans to close all 72 stores in the Chicago market.

Four of those stores—which includes two in Chicago, one in Homer Glen and another in Glenview—have been purchased by New Albertson which owns the Jewel-Osco chain, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The other 68 stores remain unsold, according to Crain’s. This includes the Dominick's at 345 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich.
