District 95 Interim Assistant Superintendent Starts Today
Michael Engel takes over for Jeff King as assistant superintendent of business operations.
Michael Engel began serving as interim superintendent of business operations for Community Unit School District 95 today. The school board approved hiring Engel at its Feb. 10 meeting.
Engel takes over for Jeff King, who resigned at the end of January to take a position with Elgin School District U-46 as chief operations officer. King’s last day will be on Monday, Feb. 14.
Most recently, Engel worked as interim business manager at Lindop School District 92 in Broadview. He has a master’s of science degree in education from the school of business management at Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Bradley University. Engel completed Type 75 Administrative Certifications for Chief School Business Official and Superintendent.

“District 95 has a lot to offer, I look forward to working here,” said Engel.
According to Jean Malek, director of communications and community relations, “Jeff has offered to help Mike transition and help out with any questions.”

Engel is contracted to work with District 95 until June 30. The permanent position of assistant superintendent of business and operations is still open.
“We are pleased to have Mike join us and we welcome his expertise and enthusiasm,” said Michael J. Egan, superintendent, District 95, in a statement.
Engel’s first day with the district is today, Feb. 14.
