District 95 Releases 22 Staff Members

Low enrollment and performance issues are the resaons for the release of district employees.

The release of 22 Community Unit School District 95 staff members from their jobs was approved by the school board on Thursday night.

“We are not releasing staff due to economic reasons, it’s due to declining enrollment or performance issues,” said Kathy Brown, board president.

The resolutions included dismissal and non-renewal of two part-time non-tenured teachers:

All affected staff have been notified that their last day working for the District will be Wednesday, June  8, said Julia Becich, director of human resources.

The educational support personnel’s salary is dependent upon Title 1 funds made available through the federal government.

“Those positions may be filled again depending on what funding is made available,” said Becich.

The federal government will notify District 95 of those numbers in May or June.

Positions that have been released due to “performance related issues will be filled” by the start of the next school year, said Becich.

Each school in the district has been affected.

“We met with all building principals to discuss personnel for the 2011-2012 school year,” explained Michael J. Egan, superintendent.

“If we have more enrollment, we’d hope to hire some people back,” said Brown.
