Fire Chief Arrested for Domestic Battery, Placed on Paid Leave

Lake Zurich Fire Chief David Wheelock is accused of pushing and threatening his wife.

Lake Zurich Fire Chief David P. Wheelock has been arrested on a domestic battery charge after police said he pushed and threatened his wife.

The charge stems from a domestic dispute between Wheelock and his wife that started Sunday evening. That dispute resumed Monday morning and escalated to the point where Wheelock pushed his wife into a wall and threatened her, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Wheelock has been charged with one count of domestic battery. He has been placed on paid leave, according to village officials.

Wheelock was transported to the Lake County Jail following his arrest and was released after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bond.

He is next expected in court on May 27 at 9 a.m.
