Incumbents Retain District 95 School Board Seats
Tony Pietro, Jim Burke, and Doug Goldberg earn their spots back on District 95's Board of Education.
District 95 Board of Education welcomes back incumbents Tony Pietro, Jim Burke, and Doug Goldberg, who were re-elected Tuesday night, according to unofficial Lake County Clerk results.
Of 5,408 votes cast, Pietro garnered the most with 1,537 or 28.42 percent. Burke was second with 1,513 votes or 27.98 percent. Goldberg was third with 1,248 votes or 23.08 percent. Newcomer Wallace finished last with 1,110 votes or 20.53 percent of the votes. Voter turnout throughout all of Lake County was only 14.98 percent with nearly 5 percent being early or mail-in votes. Of the 405,690 registered voters in Lake County, 60,787 voted.
"Knowing that all three (Pietro, Burke, and Goldberg) of us were re-elected means to me that the people of the district think we've being a good job and heading in the right direction," said Pietro.

Pietro,52, an incumbent board member has been a Deer Park resident for seven years. He is married with four children: freshman at the University of Iowa; sophomore at ; 8th and 6th graders at . Pietro works at Modular Istallations and Designs. And is currently a member of the Educational Foundation and Ela Coalition Against Youth Substance Abuse.
"We are looking at drug testing again and we need a lot of work done on our facilities, and improve our technology," said Pietro.

Burke, 45, an incumbent board member has been a Lake Zurich resident for 16 years. He is married to his wife Laurie and two sons, 6th grader at Middle School South; 5th grader at .
"I appreciate the support from the community and I'm looking forward to continuing the work the board has been doing," said Burke.
He is a stay at home dad, and has previously worked as director of change management at Motorola and independent management. Burke is Unit Commissioner for Boy Scouts of America and Signal Hill District – (2010 – Present); Middle School South PTO (2010–Present).
"In a few weeks Crystal Steker, director of technology will be presenting a plan for technology to the board, which is something we need to allocate more funding towards," said Burke.
Goldberg, 52, an incumbent board member has been a Lake Zurich resident for nine years. He is married with three children in District 95 schools.
"I'm delighted and privileged to be serve the community once again," said Goldberg.
He works at Northrop Grunman Defensive Systems Division. Has been involved in the community as a Foglia YMCA soccer coach, a Cub Scout den leader, associated with the LZBSA and the with Junior Bears.
"In the past few years we've dealt with a lot of tactical issues like indoor air quality, redistricting, finances, and closing a school, and now we are going to be able to look at long term goals," said Goldberg. "Technology, teacher unions, long term facility plans, and curriculum.
Wallace, 42, ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the school board is a four resident of Lake Zurich. He is married with four children, three currently in District 95 schools. He currently works at Advocate Good Sheperd Hospital. Wallace is also involved in Community Garden Project – In early development; volunteer at Church – ministry leader, multiple service projects; volunteer with Iron Men Foundation on the Metal of Honor Project; sponsor a 10-year-old child in India with Compassion International; blood donor with LifeSource; Boy Scouts of America – past assistant Cub Scout leader, past president – Medical Explorer Post (3 years); volunteered at Barnes Hospital (Top 10 Hospital) – St. Louis in middle school; registration, medical records, surgery recovery room.
