Life Time Fitness Project Comes Before Zoning Board
Plans for a 24-hour Life Time Fitness building at the former Hackney's site on Rand Road will be discussed Wednesday night.

LAKE ZURICH, IL - The proposal to redevelop the former Hackney's site as a 24-hour Life Time Fitness facility will come before the Lake Zurich Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Life Time has a plan to build a three-story building on a 10.36-acre property at 880 N. Rand Road, according to a village newsletter. The athletic and recreation facility will have a child care center, indoor and outdoor cafes, a salon, spa and 47,800 square foot pool area if approved.
The village will open a portion of Wednesday's meeting at Village Hall to public comments. The zoning board is expected to make a recommendation either for or against approving the project plans to the village board.
Public reaction to Life Time's plans have been largely against the project. According to recent coverage from the Daily Herald, several residents have shown concern over the project having a negative effect on their property values, a worse quality of life and result in increased traffic.
