Local education supporters raise $40,000 to benefit CUSD 95 students & teachers
report about a local fundraising event for Lake Zurich educational initiatives sponsored by the District 95 Educational Foundation
More than 250 Lake Zurich area residents turned out for the sixth annual District 95 Educational Foundation’s Gala event, showing their support by raising funds to enhance, enrich and supplement educational opportunities for CUSD 95 students. Through many generous donations, the District 95 Foundation raised more than $40,000 to be invested in CUSD 95’s eight schools.
“Our annual Gala event is a wonderful example of the strong community support for our students and teachers,” said Nancy Coleman, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This year in particular, our attendees’ generosity was superb,” she said. The event, which was held at Concorde Banquets in Kildeer on Saturday, March 11, included silent and live auctions as well as music provided by local student musicians, dinner and dancing to benefit the not-for-profit organization this year.
Coleman says the Foundation’s success will continue to inspire and fund an innovative slate of enrichment efforts and programs serving District 95 students. Recent initiatives include funding the LZHS Greenhouse, a new Family STEAM Exploration Night for grades 4 to 8, pilot Lego Leagues, and LZHS career-readiness programs. The Foundation also hosts annual academic enrichment events such as the district-wide Film Festival and Science Fair. The District 95 Foundation has also been instrumental in funding district-wide technology initiatives, testing innovative learning environments, and supporting under-resourced students.
