Local Students Recognized for Accomplishments

A number of local students were named to Dean's Lists.

Congratulations to all of these students on their achievements!

  • Kyle Long of Lake Zurich was named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at Taylor University. Full-time students are named to the Dean's List when they have earned a GPA of 3.60 or higher for the term and at least 12 hours carry credit point values.
  • Jordan Harris Sheiner of Long Grove received the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2011 fall term at Colgate University, where Sheiner is a member of the Class of 2012. To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while enrolled in four courses. Sheiner, a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School, is concentrating in Political Science at Colgate.
  • Gina Black of Lake Zurich was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, a prestigious international Jesuit honor society, at Marquette University. Black is a junior in the College of Health Sciences majoring in exercise physiology. Alpha Sigma Nu is a worldwide honor society for students at Jesuit colleges and universities who distinguish themselves in scholarship, loyalty, and service.
  • Brittany Goldstein of Long Grove, daughter of Alan Goldstein and Michelle Goldstein, was named to the Dean's List of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, for the 2011 fall semester.
  • Kenneth Waks of Kildeer, son of Michael Waks and Kathleen Bruce, was named to the Merit List of Oxford College, the two-year liberal arts division of Emory University located in Oxford, GA, for the 2011 fall semester. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the previous semester to be named to the Merit List.
  • Rachel Lynn Leszczynski of Lake Zurich was among students named to the Dean's List at Benedictine University for the fall 2011 semester. The Dean's List recognizes full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or above.
  • Andrew Roers of Kildeer is one of nearly 70 Cornell College students taking part in the college's annual Alternative Spring Break. This is the eighth year the college has sponsored a service trip that takes place during its 10-day Spring Break. This year, students are going to Alamosa, CO; Joplin, MO; Maryville, TN; and New Orleans, LA. Roers is one of the students taking part in the trip to Joplin.
  • Charmagne Black of Hawthorn Woods and Ryan Crane of Kildeer were named to the Dean's List at The University of Wisconsin-Parkside for the fall 2011 semester. Dean's List recognition is awarded to students who maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 point scale while carrying nine or more credits.
