Lake County Center for Independent Living offers free services to people with disabilities. If you live in Lake or McHenry County and have a disability, any disability, then you qualify. For people who are hard of hearing, they can help you select an ITAC amplified phone that allows you to talk with your friends and family on the phone with an amplification that best fits your hearing loss. For individuals 55 and older who are losing your vision, Lake County Center for Independent Living can introduce you to adaptive devices and teach you new ways to continue activities of daily living despite your vision loss. The Center for Independent Living is a not-for-profit that provides these and other services free of charge to those who are seeking a more independent life.
