Every year, tragic stories of seemingly healthy young adults dying from hidden heart conditions capture our attention. Isn’t there a way to detect young adults at risk for sudden cardiac death before they are stricken?
That’s the question Max Schewitz’ parents asked after he died from a hidden heart condition at age 20. They learned that many potentially life-threatening hidden heart conditions are detectable and treatable. They started the Max Schewitz Foundation’s Screens for Teens Cardiac Screening program to help find at-risk children so they can seek treatment.
On Feb. 8, all students will have the opportunity to participate in , the Max Schewitz Foundation’s Cardiac screening. This testing includes a free EKG for all participants. Students requiring an echocardiogram will receive this service at no cost. Only students with written permission will be tested.
