UPDATE: One Person Killed in Route 12 Crash
Kildeer Police are still investigating the accident on Route 12 near Quentin Road.
UPDATE, 8 p.m.: The driver of a vehicle involved in the accident at Route 12 and Quentin Road was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi confirmed the fatality in a press release issued just before 8 p.m. The identity of the individual has not yet been released.
Rossi said Route 12 between Quentin and West Cuba Roads was closed for about three and a half hours as police and fire personnel responded to — and then investigated — the four-vehicle accident.
The accident is still being investigated by the Kildeer Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
6:35 p.m.: Portions of Route 12 are still closed as police and fire personnel investigate a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in multiple injuries.
The crash occurred near Route 12 and Quentin Road at about 2:39 p.m., said Capt. Robert Bachler of the . Bachler said an off-duty firefighter/paramedic was on the scene and relayed information to emergency personnel. The firefighter/paramedic reported that there were multiple individuals requiring extrication, which led to the call for additional units at the site.
Bachler said upon arriving at the scene, fire/rescue personnel found four vehicles involved in the crash, with six possible patients. Two of the four vehicles had severe damage, Bachler said. He added that individuals had to be extricated from three of the vehicles.
Four individuals were transported to area hospitals — two to Advocate Good Shepherd in Barrington and two to Northwest Community Hospital. Two additional individuals refused medical attention, Bachler said.
Many area emergency agencies responded to this crash, including the Barrington, Palatine City, Palatine Rural, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, Fox River Grove and Mundelein Fire Departments.
