Orthopaedic Surgeon with Sports Medicine Expertise Joins Team at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute

Kevin Hilton, MD treats patients with complex hip, knee and shoulder problems

Fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Kevin Hilton has joined the team at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI). Dr. Hilton specializes in primary and revision total hip and knee replacement. He utilizes the Anterior Approach for his hip replacements. By integrating this approach, patients experience less muscle damage with a quicker return to normal activities as compared to traditional hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Hilton utilizes a technique known as MAKOplasty for many of his partial knee and hip replacements. This procedure utilizes a robot which aids in the preparation and implantation of the hip and knee components. By increasing the precision during the procedure, use of the MAKO robot may lower the risk of postoperative total hip dislocation and may also improve the longevity of the replacement. In addition to primary and revision total hip and knee procedures, Dr. Hilton treats a wide variety of fractures along with sports and work-related injuries. He utilizes arthroscopic techniques for knee arthroscopy, meniscal repair, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, shoulder arthroscopy, and rotator cuff repairs.

Dr. Hilton is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon whose training included a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Rush University and residency at University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed medical school at Loyola University and earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University.
