Police Blotter: Drug Arrest; Retail Theft

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from Aug. 6-8.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Drugs

Cody A. Searles, 19, of 191 N. Pleasant Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with two counts of drug-induced infliction of great bodily harm Aug. 5 after allegedly providing heroin to two individuals who overdosed and were transported to Good Shepherd Hospital. He also was cited with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was remanded to the Lake County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Traffic

Angel I. Romero, 27, of 35 N. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with no valid driver’s license Aug. 5 near Routes 12 and 22 after a traffic crash. Romero also was cited with disobeying a traffic control signal. Romero was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 7 court date.

Estefany Basilio, 31, of 1533 Grand Ave., Waukegan, was charged with no valid driver’s license Aug. 5 near Rose and Telser roads after a traffic crash. Basilio also was cited with improper backing. Basilio was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 7 court date.

Retail Theft

A 17-year-old Lake Barrington boy was arrested Aug. 5 in the theft of items totaling just over $30 on the 300 block of South Rand Road. Court action is pending.

Criminal Damage

A man reported Aug. 6 that someone broke the back window on his vehicle while it was parked on the 400 block of Grand Avenue. Damage was estimated at $500. Police are investigating.
