Police Blotter: Drug Possession and DUIs

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

Burglary

An individual reported on May 3 that someone forced open the door to a building in the 200 block of South Rand Road and took a fire extinguisher.  The person was unable to provide any suspect information.

Burglary – Motor Vehicle

A complainant reported on May 1 that an unknown person(s) entered her vehicle while it was parked in the 600 block of North Rand Road and removed a Nuvi GPS, a HTC Evo Shift phone, and loose change.  The estimated loss is $300.  This matter is under investigation.

 

Drug Possession

Juan S. Reyes,29, 5620 West Melrose Avenue #1, Chicago, was arrested during a traffic stop on Route 12 at Miller Road., 12:03 p.m., May 3.  Reyes was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Reyes was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of May 21.

 

On May 2, at 12:58 a.m., Steven M. Taube, 28, 1119 Betty Drive, Lake Zurich,  was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop.  Taube was charged with disregarding a traffic control device, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cannabis.  Taube was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a court date of May 17 in Waukegan.

 

At 11:59 a.m., May 1, Brian T. Dulian, 20, 995 Sandlewood Court, Lake Zurich,  was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis following a traffic stop on Pheasant Ridge Drive at Partridge Lane.  Dulian was charged with a local ordinance disorderly conduct violation. 

 

DUI

At 11:12 p.m., May 3, Bradley W. Fortson, 47, 108 Elm Street, Valparaiso, IN was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Route 12 north of Route 22.  Fortson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of open alcohol, failing to wear a safety belt when required and driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08.  Fortson was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of May 21.

 

 

At 11:04 p.m., May 2, Shuhong Guan, 41, 8309 Keating Ave #6A, Skokie,  was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to a traffic stop on Rand Road at Paulus Park.  Guan was charged with improper lane usage, driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding 55 mph in a 45 mph zone, failure to wear seat belt, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, and driving with a BAC over .08.  Guan was released after posting $300 cash bond with a Waukegan court date of June 4.

 

At 8:13 p.m., May 2, Robert M. Kuhn, 50, 669 East Clarendon Court, Arlington Heights,  was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop on Route 12 at June Terrace.  Kuhn was charged with speeding, illegal transportation of open alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol.  Kuhn was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of June 4.

 

Driving While License Suspended

Chang H. Moon, 66 , 25547 W. Bluesterm Road, Round Lake,  was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop in the 800 block of South Rand Road, 6:12 p.m., May 1.  Moon was charged with failure to wear seat belt and driving while license suspended.  Moon was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of June 1.

 

Driving While License Revoked

At 12:48 p.m., May 2, Jose R. Cabrera, 24, 8150 North 61st Avenue, Glendale, AZ was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Rugby Road.  Cabrera was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license.  Cabrera was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of  June 1

 

Retail Theft

On May 2, at 12:35 p.m., Michael Lopez, 20, 1507 South Wolf Road, Des Plaines, and Alejandro Luna, 21, 28 Pine Street, Bensenville,  stole $39.80 worth of trading cards from 820 South Rand Road.  Lopez and Luna were arrested and charged with theft.  Both subjects were released on $120.00 personal recognizance bonds with a Mundelein court date of June 1.
