Police Blotter: DUI, Child Endangerment And Stolen Car Batteries

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from July 2-5.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

DUI

Curtis Toney, 25, of 24329 Route 134, Round Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 1 near Route 12 and Long Grove Road. He also was cited with driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08 and speeding. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 1 court date.

Noel Olivera, 46, of 2657 W. Crystal, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 2 near Route 12 and Evanston Terrace. Olivera also was cited with failure to properly secure a child and driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08. Olivera was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 1 court date.

William E. Beckett, 26, of 329 Franklin Ave., River Forest, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 3 near Route 12 and Ela Road. He also was cited with improper lane usage and driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 1 court date.

Angela K. Schubert, 44, of 10 Aldine Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 3 on Crescent Road. She also was cited with improper backing and driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08. She was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 1 court date.

Charles F. Scheid IV, 23, of 1053 North Glenview Court, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 4 during a traffic stop on the 500 block of Route 12. Police said he attempted to flee on foot after being told he was under arrest. He also was cited with operating a vehicle with no rear registration light, resisting a peace officer and driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding .08. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 8 court date.

Traffic Violations

Sergio Meraz, 34, of 1203 E. Long Valley Drive No. 2B, Palatine, was charged with driving while license suspended July 2 on the 800 block of South Rand Road. He also was cited with operating a vehicle with unsafe tires. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 3 court date.

David L. Whatling, 25, of 5008 N. Genesee Road, Flint, Mich., was charged with having a suspended driver’s license July 3 near Route 12 and Bailey Lane. He also was cited with operating a vehicle with only one red tail light and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 5 court date.

Shelley A. Curtis, 45, of 201 S. Buesching Road, No. 203, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving while license revoked July 3 near South Old Rand Road and Pheasant Ridge Drive. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 19 court date.

Child Endangerment

Dana L. Robinson, 20, of 107 East Lane, Lake Barrington, was charged with endangering the life of a child July 4 after police said she left a sleeping child in her vehicle while shopping for 20 minutes on the 300 block of South Rand Road. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 26 court date.

Burglary

A resident reported July 1 that two unknown males entered his open garage on the 400 block of Waterford Drive and went through the contents of a refrigerator. The subjects fled the area before police arrived. Police are investigating.

Theft

A business owner reported that three unknown males stole 20 car batteries from a business on the 800 block of South Rand Road. The loss was estimated at $1,400. Police are investigating.
