Police Blotter: Mailboxes Damaged, Vehicle Burglarized

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from June 21-22.

The Lake Zurich Police Department listed these incidents among its official reports. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Traffic

Jasiel P. Calleja, 29, of 251 Red Oak Road, Northbrook, was charged with driving with no valid drivers license June 21 on the 400 block of South Rand Road. Calleja was also cited for improper backing. Calleja was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 3 court date.

Criminal damage

Several residents reported June 21 that their mailboxes were damaged. Six were damaged on the 900 and 1000 blocks of Cedar Creek Drive. Each mailbox sustained an estimated $100 in damage. Two mailboxes were also damaged on the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Berkley Road. Damage to each of these mailboxes is also estimated at $100. Police are investigating these incidents.

A resident reported June 20 that someone damaged her vehicle by smashing out the rear window while it was parked on the 100 block of Oak Street. Damage was estimated at $400. Police are investigating the matter.

Burglary

A resident reported June 21 that someone entered his residence on the 300 block of South Buesching Road and removed personal property. The resident also reported that his vehicles were moved and damaged. A suspect has been identified.
  
A woman reported June 21 that someone entered her vehicle while it was parked on the 700 block of West Highway 22 and stole various documents, cash, a pager, keys and an iPhone. Police are investigating the matter.
