Police Blotter: Purse Stolen; Bathroom Window Broken

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports arrests and crimes from April 24 through April 27.

DUI

Scott B. Evangelista, 21, of 1077 W. Hunting Drive, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs April 24. Police said Evangelista "called 911 due to becoming ill while smoking a 'blunt' while driving from Wauconda to Palatine." Lake Zurich Fire and Rescue personnel transported him to Good Shepherd Hospital for treatment. After his arrest, Evangelista was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a May 21 court date.

Adam Slowik, 41, of 270 East Lane, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol April 23 on the 300 block of Lions Drive. He was given a May 14 court date.

Traffic

Graciela Leal, 24, of 516 Main St., Unit A, Wauconda, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license April 26 on the 200 block of Oakwood Road. She also was cited with speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a May 18 court date.

Criminal Damage

An individual reported April 25 that someone broke a restroom window overnight at Paulus Park by striking the window with a piece of asphalt. Damage was estimated at $250.

Theft

A woman reported April 23 that someone took her purse and its contents on the 600 block of South Rand Road. The loss was estimated at $550. Police are investigating.
