Police Investigating Hit-And-Run That Injured Three Pedestrians

Accident occurred Friday night on Church Street.

Lake Zurich Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that injured three female Lake Zurich residents Friday night.

Police were called to the scene — Church Street north of Jamie Lane — at about 9:13 p.m. Friday, said Cmdr. Kevin Finlon. Three females were walking on the gravel shoulder when they were struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Church Street. The vehicle then fled the scene before police arrived, Finlon said.

An 18-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville by the Lake Zurich Fire Department. The other two pedestrians, ages 16 and 18, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington by the Lake Zurich and Wauconda Fire Departments.

Finlon said the vehicle that hit the pedestrians was last seen traveling southbound on Church Street. The vehicle was described as a newer-model, white or light-colored large SUV, Finlon said. He added that the vehicle may have a damaged or broken turn signal or hazard light cover on the front passenger side. The vehicle may also have additional damage, Finlon said. Anyone with information on this incident should call the Lake Zurich Police Department at (847)438-2349.

The accident shut down Church Street for more than two hours, Finlon said. Agencies that responded to scene included the Grayslake, Lake Bluff, Lincolnshire and Wauconda Police Departments. The Lake Zurich Auxiliary Officers and the Hawthorn Woods Police Department assisted with traffic control.
