Police Still Seeking Hit-And-Run Information
Almost two weeks after 18-year-old Gabriella Drozdz was killed in a hit-and-run, police are still looking for the vehicle and its driver.
Lake Zurich Police are still seeking information on the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that killed 18-year-old Gabriella "Gabby" Drozdz.
Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said the vehicle of interest is described as a two-tone blue van with a lighter accent color, possibly silver or gray. Finlon added that the vehicle being sought is a GMC Safari or Chevrolet Astro van from model years 1985-94.
"The only thing that keeps going through my head is that coming forward will show some remorse on their behalf," Scott Grzelak, Gabby's brother, said of the driver. "It wont change anything, but at least we'll know it was truly an accident."
The hit-and-run occurred just before 9:15 p.m. July 22 as Drozdz and her friends, Rosie and Vanessa Fitts, also of Lake Zurich, were walking to Alpine Fest. The teens were walking along Church Street near Jamie Lane when they were struck. Drozdz died of her injuries shortly after being transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Rosie, 16, and Vanessa, 18, were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries not considered life threatening and later were released.
Anyone with information is asked to contact either Finlon at (847) 719-1690, ext. 6118, or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
