Purple Plunge 2016: Freezin For a Reason

The PURPLE PLUNGE is a community event where participants can register to wade in or take the full plunge into the freezing cold water of Lake Zurich. Each participant can collect pledges and form a team to take the plunge together. The PURPLE PLUNGE is to be a fun family event where participants can wear costumes, carry signs, and just be silly as spectators cheer on the brave plungers.

Why Purple???Purple represents every type of Cancer which is why it is the color for Relay For Life. All funds raised will benefit American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Lake Zurich/Wauconda/Island Lake. American Cancer Society supports research to find a cure for cancer along with provide accommodations, transportation, free services, and support to those with cancer and their caregivers. Relay For Life is an overnight community fundraising walk where teams camp out around a track and take turns walking around the track. During the event there are all kinds of activities and entertainment. The Relay For Life is an incredible experience where you can honor those with cancer and remember those that we have lost to cancer.

Join us as event participants, supporters, and volunteers come together to honor cancer survivors, raise awareness about reducing cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease.
