Purse-Snatching Incident Leads To Two Arrests

Man and woman arrested after purse-snatching incident on Highway 22.

The following incident was listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

A man and woman were arrested June 30 in relation to a purse-snatching incident on Highway 22.

Police arrested Thomas A. White, Jr., 27, of 116 Beachway Drive, Fox River Grove, and charged him with robbery after he stole a purse from a victim that he pushed down on the 700 block of West Highway 22. A group of people detained White at 555 South Rand Road. He was charged with robbery, aggravated battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at the Lake Zurich Police Department pending a bond hearing in Waukegan.

Police also arrested Jessica Roman, 30, of 491 Doverton Lane, Fox River Grove, after she allegedly tried to help White escape the citizens who detained him. Police said she appeared to be under the influence of drugs and failed field sobriety tests. She was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a court date in Waukegan.
