Village Applies for Flooding Relief

Lake Zurich is hoping for some relief from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency for flooded areas in the community.

In hopes of getting some relief for flooded areas, Lake Zurich officials recently submitted a grant application to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, the Chicago Tribune reports. The submittal is a pre-aplication for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

As part of the program, certain areas in the village that have suffered recurrent flooding have been noted, and could be given various options, including being bought out. Residents who are impacted will be notified by the village. The application could take several months to review.
