Volunteer Orientation - JourneyCare
JourneyCare offers its volunteer training monthly, with our next session taking place on Tuesday September 16 from 5-9:30 PM in Barrington.

“I feel like I receive so much more than I give.” At JourneyCare, we hear this sentiment - or some variation of it - all the time from our volunteers. And each time it reinforces our belief that supporting patients and families facing a serious illness or end of life is the most meaningful and important volunteer work there is.
As a JourneyCare Volunteer, you will find that we offer a lot of flexibility in your service:
- Availability — We recognize that volunteerism is just one part of your busy life, and there are many opportunities that can accommodate your schedule.
- Interests — We have roughly 30 refined volunteer roles for you to choose from!
- Talents & Skills — From hair dressers and notary publics to musicians and avid gardeners, your gifts can be put to good use in supporting our patients and families.
- Location — Where you volunteer is entirely up to you! You can help at our Barrington or our Woodstock Hospice Centers or support residents in your community on service with JourneyCare in their homes. Some opportunities can even be completed from your own home!
Not all opportunities require direct contact with patients and families; your time and talents can greatly assist with things like special events (fundraising), landscaping, and administrative tasks.
