Lynn O’Brien, President and COO of Women’s Physical Therapy Institute, 755 Ela Road, Lake Zurich, recently announced the addition of onsite nutrition services to offer more tools for patients to incorporate into their physical therapy treatments. Elyse Wagner, a holistic nutritionist and owner of My Kitchen Shrink, will be available for nutrition consultations by appointment.
O’Brien explained why this service is so vital, “Food has a huge impact on how the body functions. The addition of a nutritionist offers our patients the ability to learn how to use food to help heal their body with whole foods which works in tandem with the physical therapy process and treatment.”
Wagner, a 2004 graduate of Lake Zurich High School, recently returned to the Lake Zurich area after completing a three-year graduate studies program at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, where she received her dual master’s degree in Holistic Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology. She received her undergraduate degree in Dietetics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 2008.
Wagner is a self-described “multi-passionate nutritionist” because she loves teaching others about the power of whole foods and sharing how changing their food can change their life. Beside consultations, she offers cooking classes, shopping tours and pantry overhauls.
Additionally, she has been writing a book, “The Survival Guide to Living Gluten Free,” scheduled for publication in 2013. She has published numerous articles about living gluten free in national and regional publications and has created a variety of gluten free recipes that she shares with subscribers to her free weekly video blog available on her website, Mykitchenshrink.com.
Over the past few months, she has been making the rounds on a number of blog radio stations. In a field that is evolving very quickly, Wagner makes it a point to attend seminars and consortiums to stay current with knowledge in the nutrition arena.
With a compassionate and collaborative approach, Wagner understands that everyone is unique with special gifts and talents to share with the world. She empowers her clients to break through their barriers in order to take hold of their health while providing the tools, resources and inspiration they need on their journey to living well.
