140 New Coronavirus Cases In Lemont Over Past Week

Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 824 cases of coronavirus reported as of Nov. 9, compared to 684 cases on Nov. 2.

LEMONT, IL — The number of Lemont's coronavirus cases increased by 140 cases over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 824 cases of coronavirus reported as of Nov. 9, compared to 684 cases on Nov. 2.

There is no available information regarding the number of patients who are hospitalized or who have recovered per town.

District 113A has announced it will be on an adaptive pause until after Thanksgiving break. Students will return to hybrid learning on Nov. 30.

D113A continues to share data on COVID-19 in its schools, and the data was last update on Nov. 6. 14 staff members are currently quarantined, which is a decreased from the 15 staff members quarantined the week previous. 95 students are quarantined currently, which is an increase from the 84 students reported the week before.

There are also five positive staff members currently, and six positive students. The total number of positive cases for students and staff since July 1 is 41, which is an increase of 10 from the week before.

Lemont High School remains in session currently with hybrid learning. According to data from the high school, there are four active positive cases, and 25 people currently quarantining as of Nov. 9.

Since testing began, IDPH is reporting a total of 13,190 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60439.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, there have also been 11 coronavirus related deaths in Lemont since March 16. The deaths included one woman in her 50s, two women in their 60s, one woman in her 70s, four women above 80, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s and one man above 80. The most recent death was reported on Nov. 3.

DuPage County Health Department has also reported two coronavirus related deaths in Lemont.

Franciscan Village in Lemont continues to see positive cases of both associates and residents as it continues widespread weekly testing. The facility reported nine new cases on Nov. 6 after the latest round of testing.

According to its website, the facility reported five associates have tested positive for the coronavirus, as well as four residents. The four residents are all independent living residents. Three of the residents are symptomatic and remain in isolation. One of the residents who was symptomatic was admitted to the hospital, where they received a positive result.

Four of the associates, two direct care workers and two non-direct care workers, work in Mother Theresa. The fifth associate is an assisted living direct care associate.

Indoor visitation is currently restricted in Mother Theresa Skilling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

As of Monday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 498,560 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 10,210 Illinois residents.

The state has developed resurgence criteria to identify early but significant increases of coronavirus transmission. With the new criteria, the state also developed new emergency management regions, and Lemont, as part of suburban Cook County, is now part of region 10. Region 10, as well as the rest of the state, are under mitigations which include the shutdown of indoor dining and bar service.

According to IDPH, as of data available on Nov. 9, region 10 has a test positivity rate of 12.2 percent. Hospital availability for region 10 has 21 percent of medical-surgical beds available and 28 percent of ICU beds available.
