Chicago Blaze rugby club hosts homecoming at Thornley Fields

Chicago Blaze vs South Side Irish Division 2 & 4 Matches Kickoff at 1 pm

The Chicago Blaze are proud to host our long time rival the the South Side Irish Rugby Club in two Homecoming matches September 6th.

We are inviting all past members out to see the current product on the field that they helped build into the Midwest’s rugby Mecca from a fertile Lemont corn field.

The Blaze formed in 1982 from the merger of the Amoco and Windy City Nomads. Shortly there after started transforming the farm into 3 rugby pitches (Thornley Fields) including the old hay barn into locker, training and concession building and old house into clubhouse complete with kitchen and bar.

It is now time to build our new $1,000,000 facility and we want to send out our old clubhouse with her due respect.

The Blaze family will congregate on the west side and front of old clubhouse for a team and club member picture between matches at 3pm.

We are inviting the surrounding community & all Blaze members to watch some exciting rugby and hear stories about the great times we had in the old clubhouse!
