Construction On Route 83 Near Lemont Begins Sept. 8

The northern-most blue truss bridge will be closed to northbound traffic, and southbound traffic will have major delays.

LEMONT, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin construction on Sept. 8 on Route 83 at 107th Street/Grant/Archer Avenue. According to the village, the northern-most blue truss bridge will be closed to northbound traffic.

Northbound traffic on Route 83 coming from Main Street will be detoured east via Archer Avenue to Willow Springs Road, north on Willow Springs Road to 55th Street, then 55th Street westbound back to Route 83.

The village said southbound traffic will be down to one lane but will be able to cross the bridge, however major delays are expected.

The bike path over this bridge will also be closed from Sept. 8 to mid-October during the joint installation, the village said.
