Cub Scouts Earn STEM Award

LEMONT, IL — Five Cub Scouts from Pack 249 have earned the Dr. Luis Walter Alvarez Supernova Award. According to the Boy Scouts of America website, the award recognizes achievement in STEM fields, and scouts do various experiments and projects to earn the award.

"This is a prestigious STEM award that only a few hundred boys earn nationally each year," parent Brian Reiss, who helped the group earn their award, said. "This group was particularly impressive because they completed most of the requirements while sheltering in place."

Kevin Leden, Jacob Huff, Brandon Reiss, Gavin Nally and Elliot Dellamano all earned the award after completing their requirements in June.
