Fall Household Recycling Event Planned Oct. 14
Items that can be recycled at the event include bikes, hearing aids, batteries, motor oil, document shredding, electronics and more.
LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Environmental Advisory Commission will hold its annual fall household recycling event for residents on Oct. 14.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Metra parking lot, 101 Main St.
Residents will be able to dispose and recycle several types of items at the event, including:

- Motor oil, fuel oil, lubricant oil, brake/transmission fluid, antifreeze
- Document disposal, all documents shredded on site. 100 pounds of paper recycling is allowed per person
- Electronics like PCs, servers, networking equipment, stereos, phone equipment. TVs, monitors and microwaves are not accepted.
- Prescription medication. No needles, liquids or creams; no epi-pens.
- CFL light bulbs, up to 4-foot fluorescent light bulbs
- Batteries, including NiCd, NiMH, lithium ion, button batteries and car batteries. Alkaline batteries can be disposed of as general refuse, and will not be accepted
- Glasses, hearing aids
- Printer inks, cell phones
- Bikes, bike parts and accessories
There will also be a food collection for the food pantries. Non-perishable food can be brought to the train station.
