Fire Damages Vacant Home, Remains Under Investigation: Lemont Fire
Damage estimates are not yet available, and the fire remains under investigation by the MABAS 19 Fire Investigators.

LEMONT, IL — A vacant home in the 1200 block of State Street was damaged in a house fire on Saturday in Lemont, according to a release from the Lemont Fire Protection District.
The fire was reported at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, and the first fire district units arrived in five minutes, the district said. A fire was found on the first floor of the vacant single-family home, and was spreading to the second floor of the home.
An off-duty fire district employee was coming home with his family and arrived on the scene before fire companies, the district said. He confirmed the home was vacant and no residents were inside.

The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes after crews deployed two hose lines and a tower ladder, according to the fire district.
Crews also remained on the scene extinguishing hot spots and investigating the cause, the fire district said. Damage estimates are not yet available, and the fire remains under investigation by the MABAS 19 Fire Investigators.

The incident was held to a still alarm bringing approximately 20 firefighters to the scene, staffing four engines, one tower ladder, one ambulance and other command officers. The fire was fought with the assistance from five surrounding fire agencies, which provided support at the scene and station coverage, according to the district.
