Four Dogs Saved From Lemont House Fire: Fire District

The fire happened Friday in a two-story multi-family building.

LEMONT, IL — Four dogs were saved after a house fire in Lemont Friday, the Lemont Fire Protection District said. The fire happened Friday in a two-story multi-family building and was called in by the homeowner just before 3 p.m.

The district said firefighters arrived to find extensive fire in the attic area. Due to limited access into the attic area and no hydrants in the area, the fire continued to grow. The fire was moved up to a box alarm response, which brought in additional help from Northwest Homer, Palos, Homer, Plainfield, Romeoville, Lisle/Woodridge, Orland Park, Tri-State, Lockport, North Palos, Roberts Park, Frankfort, New Lenox and Downers Grove.

Firefighters had to stretch 1,800 feet of large diameter supply lines across Archer Avenue to the Estates of Montefiori since there was a lack of hydrants in the area, the district said. This supply line shut down Archer Avenue completely for a few hours Friday.
