Girl Scouts Collect Colorful Band-Aids to Lift Sick Kids' Spirits
The scouts collected "fun" Band-Aids to help put a smile on the face of ill children.
It's hard to frown when you have a smily face staring back at you from a Band-Aid, and the Girl Scouts at St. Alphonsus-St. Patrick school joined together to sponsor a project to brighten the lives of sick children.
They spearheaded a collection of fun character Band-Aids that will be given to the Child Life Services department of Rush University Medical Center for use with their pediatric patients.
"Rather than getting a plain old hospital issue Band-Aid after a blood draw or other procedure, the girl scouts are hoping that a fun character Band-Aid will bring a smile to these sick children and take a little bit of the sting away," wrote troop leader Melissa McGuire.
In total, the St. Alphonsus-St. Patrick Troops collected 251 boxes of specialty Band-Aids.
