Guinness World Records Set In 2020 In Illinois
A man held a plank position for over eight hours, and another person walked barefoot on Legos for over 5,000 meters.
ILLINOIS — While record-breaking crowds and large events weren't possible in 2020, several people from Illinois were still able to break some Guinness World Records and achieve some remarkable things.
The following people were certified as official Guinness World Record holders in 2020:
Most chest to ground burpees in one minute (male): The most chest to ground burpees in one minute (male) is 30, and was achieved by Chunling Jimmy Choi (USA) in Naperville, on Aug. 8.

Chunling Jimmy Choi was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's disease at the age of 27 and has used fitness as a key treatment to the disease, according to the Guinness website. Since 2011, he has completed one ultra marathon, 16 marathons, more than 100 half marathons, countless 5K's, 10K's, and triathlons, and has competed on four seasons of American Ninja Warrior. According to Guinness' website, he says his most important accomplishment has been raising almost $500,000 for Parkinson's research through his physical activities.

Farthest distance walking barefoot on LEGO® bricks: The farthest distance walking barefoot on LEGO® bricks is 5,082 m, and was achieved by Salacnib "Sonny" Molina in Woodstock on Nov. 14.
According to Guinness' website, Sonny partnered with the Rotary Club Clearing House in Woodstock for this attempt and raised money for Cancer Warrior and Toys for Tots. Sonny attempted this record title in honor of his friend Leah who passed away from cancer two years ago.
Longest time in an abdominal plank position (male): The longest time in an abdominal plank position (male) is 8 hours 15 minutes 15 seconds, and was achieved by George Hood in Naperville, on Feb. 15.
Immediately following the attempt George completed a number of push-ups to signify his desire to attempt a push-up related record in the future, according to the Guinness website.
Illinois also holds several other Guinness World Records set before 2020. You can't have Illinois without corn, and of course Illinois is home to the record of the most people husking corn, which was set in 2012 with 3,464 people at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. According to Guinnesss' website, the annual record attempt during the University of Illinois freshman class convocation is becoming part of the school tradition following the successful attempt to create the largest smoothie in 2011.
A small town in southern Illinois is also known for several large Guinness World Records. Casey, Illinois, is home to the world's largest rocking chair, mailbox, wooden shoes/clogs, golf club, golf tee, key, gavel, barber shop pole, and teeter totter, among several others. According to Guinness, residents and city officials have a "Big Things in a Small Town" initiative to determine what big object they will create next.
