Halloween Hoedown Returns Saturday To Downtown Lemont

The event will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with a costume contest.

LEMONT, IL — The weekend before Halloween has arrived, and that means it's time for Lemont's annual Halloween Hoedown in downtown Lemont.

The event will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with a costume contest, which will begin in the small, northeast Metra lot. Participants should arrive by 10:15 a.m., and prizes will be awarded for cutest costume, overall best costume, scariest costume, most creative costume and best group costume, according to the Village.

The costume parade will then step off at 11 a.m., leaving from the Metra lot, heading east on Canal Street, to Stephen Street to Front Street.

Trick-or-treating at participating businesses in downtown Lemont will be from 11 a.m. to noon. Businesses will have a door sign if they are welcoming trick-or-treaters.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., trick-or-treating will be offered at the Safety Village. Participating businesses and organizations will have tables in the outside Safety Village area. There will also be free popcorn, and a Lemontster Days photo backdrop, according to the Village.

There will be several festivities on Front Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including hay wagon rides, a blow-up corn maze, bouncy house, face painting, DJ, balloon artist, craft projects, giveaways and more.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a special spooky photo booth with Molly Hebda Photgraphy at 226 Main St., according to the Village.

Lastly, at noon, there will be a Halloween Dance performance on Canal Street from Allegro Music and Dance Academy.

There will also be several road closures for the event, including:

  • Lemont Street before the tracks will be closed around 10:15 a.m. for costume parade preparations and remain closed until the costume parade passes through.
  • Canal Street will be closed from Lemont Street to Stephen Street from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until it is safe to open.
  • Stephen Street will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until it is safe to open.
  • Front Street will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Safety Village parking lot area will be closed with no parking until 1:30 p.m. or until area is clear to open.
  • Holmes Street is still closed due to railroad work
