Heat Advisory, Heightened Fire Danger Expected Wednesday

Hot weather and breezy conditions will make Wednesday a dangerous day, for both in terms of heat and for fire, according to the National Weather Service. 

A heat advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday, with temperatures of 96 to 102 and heat indices of 102 to 108 possible. 

Very hot, dry and breezy conditions will lead to an increased danger for wildfires. 

Outdoor burning is discouraged and should be avoided. 

Prolonged exposure to the heat will be dangerous, according to the NWS, and can cause sunstroke, heat cramps or heat exhaustion.

If you need to work outside, reschedule activities for early morning or evening. Wear light-weight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. 

Take frequent breaks in shade or in an air-conditioned space. 

Stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. Pets and children should not be left unattended in cars as the interior can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. 

Those in need of a cooling center may go to the , 16028 127th St., between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.
