Hope and Friendship celebrates the 13th UnBirthday Party

Hope and Friendship Foundation and Lemont Calvary Church joined efforts for the 13th year to celebrate local young friends' UnBirthday!

It has been a long year. I haven't seen my young friends since PPP in
the beginning of March. As I was getting ready for last night's
UnBirthday Party I was feeling quite rusty at preparing for outreaches
and then felt way out of shape of hustling my butt off during them.
When I got home my body was tired but my smile was on full force go. I
had images in my head of laughter, smiles from ear to ear, kindness
being shared and love in the air between all of the young and all
of us who stepped forward to love on and around them keeping them safe,
happy, fed, and moving through all of the fun things there were to do.

I'm still smiling and I am so very grateful for this corner of the
world. I know we can get caught in a rut of feeling frustrated and
overwhelmed with the current state of life but when you look at how
beautifully easy it is to light up a child's face and heart and how much
passion goes into protecting and providing everything we can as mentors
to lift them and love them all of this mess just seems that...mess.

I chose to see the beauty that is in it and last night I saw that.
Thank you for your donations, thank you to the volunteers who helped
keep all of us in small pods and moving through the night wonderfully, thank you to the Lemont Juniorettes who came out to gift their world famous tie dying skills, thank you to Lemont Girl Scouts for gifting a very excited group with Girl Scout Cookies,
and thank you to my partner for the night Pastor Heather Lee and to Pastor Sid Casillas for making last night possible and wonderful!

This corner of the world is a better place today because the corner of
State and Archer was glowing bright last night with love and laughter of
many grateful young friends who were loved on by a non-stoppable and
super compassionate corner of the world.
