Storms, Wind Gusts Headed To IL Before Cool Down

Cooler temps are on the way! After four days of temperatures in the 90s and heat indices in the 100s, cooler temperatures will arrive on Tuesday. A heat advisory was in effect until 7 p.m. Monday.

Isolated to scattered showers and storms are expected Sunday afternoon and evening, including potentially heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon and evening, and isolated strong to severe storms are possible. Temps will cool to 67 degrees by Monday night, according to the National Weather Service. There's also a risk of damaging winds of up to 60 mph and limited flood risk.

Rain and storms are also possible Tuesday and for the rest of the work week. Tuesday will be cooler with a high of 81 degrees, and Wednesday will be even cooler at 78 degrees. The chance for storms will stick around the rest of the week, and the high on both Thursday and Friday is 77 degrees, according to the NWS.
