As we approach the 2014 season, we want to give you an update on some of the key accomplishments to date. We offer our thanks to everyone who has helped. It has been a community effort. We would also invite you to send any feedback on how we can make the Lemont Indians Youth Lacrosse Program even better as we move through the 2014 season. Here are a few things that we are proud of.
Behind the scenes, we continue to communicate and have live meetings, even in the off season, to make sure that we have a successful 2014 season
We now have over 70 players registered which is up dramatically over the past 2 years
Communication has improved dramatically and the website has been successful as has the Facebook page. People are using these resources. We do have a Twitter page and a Lemont Patch blog but most people prefer the website and the Facebook page.
Last year we had new uniforms designed and delivered. They are probably the best looking uniforms around
We have 2 fields dedicated to lacrosse at Bambrick Park. This is not easy to do in Lemont with competing sports
We have managed to keep the registration costs low when compared to similar lacrosse programs. Our goal is not to make money but to build the program at the lowest cost possible. We understand that your children play other sports as well
We have developed a strong relationship with the Southland League and will continue to be able to play teams such as St. Rita, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Forest and others
Our philosophy is that your children learn and enjoy the game. Having said that, it is nice for the players to have some wins. We had 2 teams finish in 2nd place at the Peoria Tournament last year. We had 1 team play in the final at the 2013 Summer Slam Tournament last year
You already have the 2014 schedule this year. Check out the website and look at the schedule (calendar) section of the site. This is a big improvement over last year
Last year we had our first sponsor and we would like to thank Jeff Bertucci for his donation. Feel free to visit his restaurants when you can. Here is their website link http://steaknegger.com/
We have spirit wear available and it looks awesome
This year we are starting to forge a stronger relationship with the Lemont High School Program. We will let you know when they have home games and ask for your support if you have time to attend and help fill the stands. The LHS Coach attended our January 26th meeting at the Lemont Police Station to meet some of the LIYL families. He wants to get some of our kids involved at their home games
This year we will start talking to some of the local football coaches about how lacrosse can be such a great cross-over sport to keep their athletes in top shape during the off season
We have participated in community events to raise awareness about our program. The St. Paddy’s Parade and Keepataw Days Parade are examples. See our website for photos
Having said all that, we need your help to keep us moving in the right direction. If you have any creative ideas, media contacts or know of any local corporate sponsors please contact us. GO INDIANS!
