Last chance to support Lemont Police Depart. in their "No-Shave" Days

For the 6th year, Lemont Police have committed to offering support to assist with a few local cancer battles.

In 2017 the Lemont Police Department launched their first "No Shave" Days, doing so to assist their Chaplain Terri O'Neill-Borders' husband, in his diagnosis and eventual surgery with throat cancer. It was a HUGE help, not only financially (as he was unable to work and therefore received no pay), but also emotionally. They were both truly humbled to be the mission of this amazing department's efforts and compassion.

Since that year, the Lemont Police Department has offered this outreach of support narrowing in on a specific mission and recipients for each year. Commander Dan Dykshorn has said that each year he hopes that there would be no need to rally support for, however, as we are well aware that will most likely not happen.

The mission of this past "No-Shave" Days was to rally assistance for three teachers in District 113A who are battling cancer.

Each month in exchange for the opportunity to grow out their beards (which are normally not permitted) officers are making donations that will be offered to these three teachers to assist them and show them support.

Chaplain O'Neill-Borders' and District 113A School Resource Officer John Lauricella, made the rounds to deliver the news to each of the teachers, and to inform the students to encourage the Police Officers whenever they see these amazingly handsome beards growing!

The "No-Shave" Days are about to come to an end on January 31st but they are still working hard to rally donations, and grow those beards, to offer their support...and then they will have to shave!

If you would like to donate to the "Lemont Police Department No-Shave" Cancer Support Fund you can do so by dropping off or mailing a donation to:

Lemont Police Dept. Attn. Commander Dan Dykshorn, 1400 127th St., Lemont.

Or if you would like to offer a donation via credit card you can make a donation to the Lemont Police Department's "No-Shave" Cancer Support Fund through the Hope and Friendship Foundation Paypal found at www.hopeandfriendshipfoundatio... You can note the donation is for the Lemont Police Depart. fund. The total amount collected will be divided among these three most valued and loved teachers.

Meanwhile over the next 10 days make sure to offer your support to our Lemont Police Department as they continue to contribute to our community in their tasks and commitment to serve and protect, and above and beyond that to support those within the community they are apart of.
